I stepped onto the path of yoga at twelve years old. Through countless namaskars over the years, I’ve fallen deeply in love with the vibration of consciousness tapped through practice - the experience of awakening in sacred embodiment.

Today, my life is a tapestry of sadhana: weaving together meditation and mindfulness practice, thousands of hours of immersive training and travel, an academic anchoring in mystical poetry and religious studies, and daily integration of the ancient traditions and contemporary innovations of yoga.

I serve as an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, assistant, and mentor. I’m also a core catalyst of the annual DC Global Mala (part of a worldwide event that raises awareness and funds for issues such as global warming, fair trade, and equal education opportunities), and Director of Programs for Anahata Grace, an international nonprofit bringing wellness services to communities in need.

This is a wave to fellow sojourners. I share sparks of creativity that illuminate my days, hoping others may find a moment to pause and rest among these words.

Wishing you light.

Shawn

Look at the birds. Even flying
is born
out of nothing. The first sky
is inside you, friend, open
 at either end of day.
The work of wings
 was always freedom, fastening
one heart to every falling thing.
